Well, we finally got our kitchen unpacked and organized! It was a rather difficult task considering it is smaller with less cabinet space than at our last house. We are able to make it work, but Paul is constantly brainstorming ways to make it better (new cabinets, countertops--the works). But, for now we feel fortunate to have one room in our house that is not in complete disarray, though the process of getting it there was quite drawn out and messy. Max loved playing with all of the packing paper and the empty boxes.
Since there is so much tile in this house we felt bad that Max didn't have a place to chill--so we got him a bean bag and a scrap of leftover carpet. Poor guy. He doesn't even have any of his toys unpacked yet.
Our new carpet! It looks and feels great. Max has already christened it, however, with a golden shower.

This tree is so beautiful in all of its blossomy glory in our backyard.
What a HOT April weekend we had. It got up to 90 degrees on Saturday and 93 on Sunday. Our only friends out here, Mark and Anne Ouimet, invited us over to cool off in their pool. Max had a great time splashing around...

So, slowly but surely we are adjusting. Max is still having a hard time--he's been quite clingy and whiney which makes it hard to get anything done, and all of his crying makes it really hard for me to fight off all of my "homesick" tears. If I leave his line of sight for even a second he freaks out. He refuses to climb up and down the stairs and instead cries to be carried, which is odd because he's been scaling the steps for a long time--well before his 1st birthday. I guess he is just out of sorts and still trying to adjust to this new environment. I also think he gets sick of just hanging out with me all day. Fortunately, Max and I joined a playgroup and we have our first playdate tomorrow! We are so excited to get the chance to meet friends. But even better than that--Maggie is coming tomorrow. It will be so nice to see a familiar face, and I know Max will be so happy to see his Mimi.
Here is a video--not the greatest or steadiest hand, but it gives a glimpse of what a cute sweetheart our little man is.

Max is such a sweetie - how fun to see a video of him in action! :) Looks like a lot of work - physically and emotionally with the move. Keep up the updates! :)
