The B-Hive enjoyed an incredible vacation "down the shore" with Mimi, Koa and Auntie Joey this past August. We spent a week at Dewey Beach in Delaware, just a little over a two-hour drive away from our humble abode here in South Eastern Pennsylvania. The beach was beautiful and the sand was perfect and the waves were huge and powerful. We spent most of our time hanging out at the beach where we ate, relaxed, played in the sand and did a lot of wading and boogie-boarding in the ocean. A lot of baseball was played and cool shells collected. When we weren't on the beach we were either hanging out at our cozy and charming beach bungalow, walking and shopping on the boardwalk at nearby Rehoboth Beach, or eating someplace really yummy. In addition, we spent a very fun afternoon at a water park and another fun afternoon at the arcade and amusement park. All in all, it was a very wonderful and memorable vacation!
Max taught me how to boogie board. I only lost two pairs of sunglasses in the process, got beaten up by the waves, and had to dig sand out of every crevice in my body for the next two days, but it was really, really fun!
I got up early one morning to go for a run, but just as I was headed out the door, Max woke up. Of course he wanted to come with me. Of course I couldn't say no! We had a great time--it was really special just having that experience with my big boy; it is very rarely just the two of us. Not a lot of running was done, but it was memorable nonetheless. The beaches were empty at sunrise, and the ocean was majestic. We even saw some dolphins jumping in the distance. After we made it to the boardwalk and poked around a bit, we topped off our splendid morning with some yummy breakfast (followed by ice cream!) and then rode the shuttle back to the house.
