Extreme House Makeover

In August we underwent some huge cosmetic enhancements on our house--we gave it a brand new paint job!! (both inside and out)...

First we had the inside done. The trim around the baseboard and moldings around windows and doors were oak that had been stained a 1980's-ish brown. I hated it from the moment I walked into this dwelling almost 5 years ago on our house-hunting excursion with Cleo (our realtor) and baby Max (14 months at the time). Come to think of it, there were a lot of things I hated about this house we would later call home, but the one that really bothered me every day was the color of the trim. I wanted it white. It just seemed impossible to get it that way short of pulling it all off and replacing it which was cost prohibitive. Then, we met Erwin, our painter with a thick Irish accent, who does a very nice job at a very reasonable price. He painted all the trim in our house--literally transforming it into something that makes me proud to call it "home."

The plastic on the windows in the picture below is how we lived out an entire day while Erwin and his crew painted the stucco on the exterior of the house. It sort of felt like we were living in a bubble...

It looks so much brighter and so much better. We got rid of the mauve-ish, two-toned paint and the horrible mauve trim around the window and gutters. It is a new house!
